 The Cultural Lead is an identified position open exclusively to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants.

The North Queensland Youth Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (NQYAODS) is a new service funded by Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS) and delivered through a partnership consortium led by Youth Empowered Toward Independence (YETI). The consortium consists of YETI as the contract lead and provider for the non-residential service component, the Youth Support and Advocacy Service (YSAS) as the residential provider and Gindaja who provides cultural oversight and governance to the NQYAODS.

Reporting to Gindaja’s Treatment Services Manager, and working in partnership with the Residential Manager, the Cultural Lead is a senior role within the NQYAODS leadership team which is overseen by the NQYAODS Director. This position is responsible for overseeing the cultural direction and governance of the service, with a focus on ensuring culturally safe and community-centred care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. This role includes collaboration with community leaders, management of cultural advisory input, and guidance on culturally appropriate practices for the service team.
